The Week Ahead in Virginia Highland-Druid Hills

1. Barista contest. Watch this caffeinated competition at 7 p.m. Tuesday at San Francisco Coffee Roasting at 1192 N. Highland Ave. Proceeds benefit the neighborhood's new children's therapy center, The Atlana Children's Therapy Space. $35.

2. Exhibit of SCLC materials at Emory. This exhibition runs through Dec. 1 at the Robert W. Woodruff Library and highlights the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's efforts to achieve positive social change after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Free.

3. What's new in poetry? This reading series starts at 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnes and Noble at 1380 Oxford Road NE, Atlanta. Free.

4. Pet Loss Grief Support meeting. Starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Conley Center at 2215 Cheshire Bridge Road NE. Free.

5. Irish Dance Classes. In case you go to Ireland, you need to know how to dance, right? Learn at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Burke Connolly Academy of Irish Dance at 1068 N. Highland Ave. NE. $10.
