Volunteers Needed For Virginia Highland Traffic Island Cleanup

Cleanup this Sunday in Virginia Highland. The Virginia Highland Civic Association says, "A general clean up of the triangle island at Virginia and N. Highland avenues, including some light maintenance and flower planting, is scheduled for this Sunday May 5 and organizers are looking for volunteers to help. Volunteers should meet at the triangle this Sunday at 1 pm and bring garden gloves (if you have them) and a water bottle. No RSVP is necessary. A Taste of the Highlands May 18. The event website says volunteers are needed "for event set-up in the morning prior to the event (9am-11am), for various roles during the event in two shifts (1:30-3:30 pm or 3:30-5:30 pm), and for breaking down the event in the late afternoon (5 - 6 pm). Volunteers receive free admission to the event." Go to the volunteer page on the website to add your name.

The Morningside Farmers Market on Saturdays. From 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. you can set up the information booth and the chef demonstration area. From 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. you can run the information booth. Musicians, fundraisers and special event volunteers also are needed.
