Blacksmithing Immersion

Got forge fever? Come try your hand at blacksmithing, learning all the basics in an immersive environment. Join Ray the Blacksmith at Invictus Forge as you spend three evenings learning the tools, techniques and tricks of the blacksmithing trade. No previous blacksmithing experience is necessary, and this workshop is a fantastic way to determine if metalwork is something you’d like to pursue more in depth.

Get a feel for some of blacksmithing’s basic skills including drawing, scrolling, twisting, welding and more to create a beautiful steel heart to keep in your home or give as a gift.

Warning: if you’re easily offended by kilts, off-color jokes, and salty language, Ray might not be the instructor for you. If, however, these are some of your favorite things, Invictus Forge is the right place! *Please remember to wear closed toe shoes and bring a pair of leather gloves. Eye protection will be provided.

About the Instructor:
Invictus Forge was founded by Ray Bowen in 1998 to pursue his love of blacksmithing. Known around Atlanta as “Ray the Blacksmith”, Ray has built a following among home owners, architects, builders, landscape architects and many others. Ray was introduced to blacksmithing in 1994 by Jacques Brunet, former head of the French blacksmith guild. He immediately felt an affinity for creating with steel. Family members later told him that he was the 5th generation of blacksmiths in the family. Ray apprenticed at Reigneaux et Fréres in St. Gaultier, France and specializes in the classical French style. The work performed at Invictus Forge meets the unique needs of each customer with no two projects alike.
