N. Highland Avenue was shut down for the afternoon on Sunday, May 20, for Atlanta Streets Alive, a street festival that encouraged the community to take to the streets and be active.

Hundreds of Atlanta residents came on out on foot and bike to enjoy the afternoon.

Patch editors were there and had a great time! It was a totally different experience being able to walk in the middle of the road of a busy street like N. Highland Avenue.

Great event. It oughta happen once a month and should remain on N. Highland instead of returning to Edgewood.

Hundreds? You mean thousands.

Wow, this thing was way bigger than when it was on Edgewood. Almost too big as I had to more or less get off my bike and walk it in several sections because there were so many people. But still so much fun!

Great atmosphere and nice opportunity for those that actually live within walking distance. I say keep it local and have it often enough so that it just does become an annual spectacle of what we should really practice. Also need to make sure that certain businesses aren't cut off from their patrons.
