First off, this entire thread never should have gotten to the subject of race. Nobody deserves to have their life taken away from them by another person. The city should be grieving, and not worrying about lesser things like sexual preferences, race, or age. A person lost his life today, a person that i went to school with. May you rest in peace and may your life being taken away be a learning experience for us all.

Im glad to see someone in here with the same mindset. Though Lee and I were not extremely close, he was still a good buddy of mine, and a great person who deserves respect.

A young man going to visit a friend was killed in our neighborhood. Doesn't matter if it was across Ponce or not . It is our neighborhood. He was a friend to my son. A son of another family. Another child lost. I am very sad for his family, my son , and all that are feeling this sad and tragic loss.

I watched both fox videos. One said shot in chest, another said back. There is no way to tell what was being stolen from the video. On a side note, how many of you have smoked weed in your life? Where did you get it? You bought it or a friend did, right? So does that mean since you were doing it you opened up the right to get shot dead? How about your son or daughter who smokes it at a party? Don't be so quick to judge. Drugs don't just magically appear. Dealers only exist because there is a demand. Legalize it and tax the heck out of it. Take out the black market and help our financial recovery.

On behalf of my LOWERY family..it deeply hurts 2 read the comments made abt our Little Brother,cousin, & most Important someones SON..who cares what he had in tht package or bag..what gives you all the right to label him as a Drug Dealer..Thnk about HOW we feel as a family..THE feeling of losing a family member over "we all dnt knw wht"..Lee is someone that was special & loved from the day God Sent him here 2 us as a gift..I could get rude as some of you but what purpose would that serve..We as a Family what Justice..& the person or people who TOOK HIS LIFE..GOD WILL HANDLE YOU..WE ALL LOVE YOU LIL LEE..& 4 the rest of you may you & all your negative comments have a blessed day..We have God on our side

Cassandra, you have absolutely no way of knowing what that package was and should not be making such strong accusations regarding such a sensitive subject. Lee was a dear friend of mine and was loved by many. He made such a good impact on many peoples lives as can be seen by many of his friends on facebook. The fact that you are going around trying to trash someone deceased name says much more about you as a person than anything you can say about Lee. If you have information you feel need to be shared with the police, then please do so, but publicly posting as you have been is incredibly disrespectful of you to do in a time like this when people are mourning a great friend's loss.

Lee left us too early, too soon... His beautiful smile will be with us. He was a nice kid, a HOPE student, a sweet son, a special grandson, a loyal friend. He will be missed ;(
Trying to understand will not help. Anger even less. He was robbed and killed! Why? Because this is life, and shit happens! The only thing we can do is to make sure we appreciate life, making people around us happy. Because This is our legacy. My family is greatful for the time together RIP Lee Lowery

Hey Police, are you reading this? In the video, the killer is wearing a white "Billionaire Boys Club" sweater. Those things are very expensive, so most likely, the suspect has worn it before and those around him definitely noticed it.

I would like to see a community reward and some activism that will bring this thug to justice. Lee was a very special person to me and had an unbelievable future ahead of him. I can tell you now that Lee was shot in the back like any disgusting coward would do. Knowing Lee as I do, he would have gladly handed over whatever this piece was after. Just want to remind thug out there you took a fantastic individual but you will never take the memories I have of this awesome individual. WE WILL FIND YOU AND JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED

The news media and the Mayor office have made deliberate attempts to cover up the crime in downtown and midtown. Downtown is crime ridden with thugs blatantly running and conducting business in the streets. I'm not sure how it is in MIdtown but in Downtown police talk regularly with the criminals and take the path of least resistance when it comes to curbing crime. The truth is although their numbers may have increased under Mayor Reed APD has done done VERY LITTLE to curb crime. They don't arrest people that are selling and smoking crack in the middle of downtown on city streets. They sit in their cars texting instead of doing police work. I should have voted for Norwood I'm so sickened by his stall and cover up tactics. It's coming from the top.

To ikeahacker. Do you participate in your NPU "M"'s public safety meetings held on the 1st Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Helene Mills Center on John Wesley Dobbs @ Boulevard? Instead of idly ranting here - you could participate in conversations with the brass from both APD Zones 5 and 6 in a positive manner.

I, and you all should find it very odd that there is no public reward for this thug. There are several people out there that know this guy and would surely turn him in for a little cash. I urge you all to put pressure on Zone 6 and the APD to handle this properly and catch this guy/group. Find time today to call Zone 6 investigations at: (404) 373-5331 and ask for Lt. Spillane. It's sad that even justice requires a squeaky wheel these days... so start making some noise.

@Topher - Police have encouraged people to call tips in to homicide investigators, or to Crimestoppers, which does offer rewards for tips that lead to prosecution of a suspect.

That does not do the job that is needed. A substantial reward should be in front of the public through all media outlets. How else do you think the "friends" of these thugs will know about the reward? We basically need to be holding the carrot over their heads telling them to give up the info, otherwise nothing will happen. Again, make some noise people!

O.k. I have pretty much solved the crime. What does it say on the murderer's sweatshirt? Harvard, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt. All we need to do is zoom in on the shirt, figure out the college name, and then check the local alumni clubs to see where this young man studied. Case closed!

I pray that the suspect is caught and prosecuted to the highest extent of the law. It is sad when a person being murdered is being justified because of accusations; people, this young man was gunned down in a SENSLESS act and it breaks my heart. Instead making such hurtful comments how about taking the time to lift the family in prayer or say something pleasant. His mother, father ,family and friends are in pain; I don’t care what he was or was not doing it DOES NOT justify someone taking his life!!! My prayers go out to the family and friends of Lee I pray your strength in God and that you find peace. God Bless you!!

I've been hanging around this neighborhood (and Va Higland, Little 5 Pts, etc) since I was in highschool in the '60s. This neighborhood is MUCH better now than in the 60s, 70s and 80s. From what I have heard from my son and others who know this boy, it was no doubt a drug deal gone wrong. This could have happened anywhere in Atlanta. Get a grip. This isn't the end of anything,
