APD Seeks Man Who Threatened Woman at Piedmont Park

Man reportedly threatened to rape a woman in broad daylight last week.

Atlanta police have released a sketch of a suspect who reportedly attempted a sexual attack on a woman last week in Piedmont Park.

As reported at Midtown Patch, a woman was near the lake around 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 when a clean cut black male approached her and allegedly said, “I wanna rape you, you sl***t” in what she described as “a despicable voice.”

According to the APD spokesman John Chafee, the woman immediately ran away in the direction of a pair of Piedmont Park Conservancy workers. Those two men followed the suspect until he got near Grady High School, where they witnessed the man change shirts before losing sight of him.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 30s with brown eyes, average build and standing approximately 6-foot-2.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Special Victims Unit at 404-546-4260 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.

Ladies, you should always carry some sort of deterrent. Piedmont Park seems idyllic but in reality it is in proximity to some of the worst of the worst of people. Remember, you have the right to carry a gun.
