Driver Stabbed in Robbery Attempt

Passenger tells police he shot would-be robber.

A man told police he was stabbed during a robbery attempt Monday morning near the Piedmont Heights neighborhood, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Atlanta and DeKalb police were investigating the predawn incident after police found the driver stopped in the middle of Monroe Place off Monroe Drive. A passenger in the car told police he fired several shots after the stabbing, and that a bullet hit the would-be robber.

The driver was taken to Grady Memorial and is in stable condition.
