Druid Hills Mansion Catches Fire Tuesday Night

No one was reportedly in the home that was undergoing extensive renovations prior to the two-alarm blaze.

A pair of Atlanta firefighters were injured fighting a two-alarm blaze overnight near the Druid Hills County Club.

The fire broke out shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday at a 6,000-square-foot mansion-like home in the 800 block of Lullwater Road off of Ponce de Leon Avenue.

The home had been under renovation according to a spokesperson with the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and firefighters did have to battle through windy conditions to extinguish the blaze.

On firefighter suffered an ankle injury while another sustained a minor burn to his leg. Both were taken to a local hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
