Learn how to do compression-only CPR at no cost by dropping by a DeKalb County fire station or other site Wednesday.
In observance of National Emergency Medical Week, DeKalb County Fire Rescue is partnering with American Medical Response for the AMR World CPR Challenge Day.
AMR technicians will be available Wednesday, May 21, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at participating DeKalb County Fire Rescue stations and alternate sites throughout the county.
Residents will receive compression-only CPR technique training to the beat of the Bee Gees’ “Staying Alive.”
Compression-only CPR is easy to learn and dramatically increases the chance that a cardiac arrest victim will survive, authorities say. Having bystanders who are willing to perform CPR can also help make communities safer.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. For a list of participating DeKalb County Fire Rescue stations and alternate locations, visit http://www.amr.net/CPR/CPR-Challenge-Locations.
