Chamblee police have charged a man with the rape of a 79-year-old
woman who was sexually
assaulted in her home in April.
DNA tests reportedly linked Allen Lee Garner, 32, with the crime, police allege in a WSB TV story.
Police said the elderly woman was attacked in her bedroom on April 26. Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Garner, who had recently been released from prison.
On May 2, Garner was arrested on a related burglary charge. While in police custody, investigators submitted DNA evidence gathered at the crime scene to the state crime lab. On Thursday, the test results matched Garner to the crime, according to investigators.
Garner was charged with rape, burglary and theft.
