Police to Step Up Patrols in Virginia-Highland and Surrounding Neighborhoods

Virginia-Highland, Inman Park to see more patrol cars and police presence

Don’t be alarmed if you see more police cars patrolling the streets in your neighborhood.

Atlanta Police Chief George Turner revealed plans on Thursday to increase the police presence in Virginia-Highland and surrounding neighborhoods — an area he called “hot spots” for crime.

Several snatch and grabs were reported in Inman Park, Candler Park and the Old Fourth Ward neighborhoods in the past few weeks, and a purse was snatched from a woman on N. Highland Avenue in Virginia-Highland.

“This is a high visibility patrol,” Turner told Fox 5.

He said the extra patrols will include a stronger presence in parking lots where smash and grabs are common and more community involvement with local businesses.
