Second Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting on Ponce de Leon

Graham Sisk was gunned down in his car at the corner of Ponce de Leon and Moreland in October. Police have said they believe "all individuals" involved in the shooting had been taking part in "illegal activity" at the time.

UPDATED: 10:43 a.m.

Atlanta police have arrested a 51-year-old man in the brazen daylight killing of a man in his vehicle last fall, according to a news release.

Denorris Turner was arrested Monday and charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Criminal Attempt in the killing of Graham Sisk, 23.

The Atlanta Police Department said Turner was transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where he was being held Monday night.

Turner is the second man to be arrested in the crime. In November, police arrested Shaheed K. Huff, 30, in Lithonia and charged him with felony murder and aggravated assault with a weapon.

Sisk was killed Oct. 5 in the afternoon shooting at the busy intersection, shocking many in the Virginia-Highland/Druid Hills community.

According to APD, Sisk was traveling northbound on Moreland Ave approaching Ponce De Leon when "suspects approached him and fired multiple times. ...It appears that there may be two suspect vehicles and multiple suspects involved."

Monday's release about Turner's arrest said that witnesses told police that before the shooting, there had been "an altercation" that began "on Moreland Ave. with the victim and the occupant or occupants of an older model Ford or Chevrolet pick- up truck that was described as either dark blue or black."

In November, Paul Guerrucci, the homicide commander for APD, said the investigation found that the shooting was not a random act of violence:

"All indications are that all the individuals that were involved in this shooting and killing ... knew each other in one way or another, and they were involved in some type of illegal activity when this shooting occurred."

Moreland runs north and south. The altercation -- given the direction of the victim's car -- must've happened further south on Moreland.

...plus the fact the Moreland does not exist north of the incident.

Readers - Police have consistently reported that the accident took place on Moreland, and that the victim's car crossed Ponce headed north toward Briarcliff. The police report does appear to have an incorrect reference to where the prior "altercation" took place, and we've removed that to avoid further confusion. The exact location of the event that came before the accident doesn't change the fact that police say this killing was not the result of a random traffic dispute.
