So did they get the guy? They certainly pulled out all the stops in the search. I saw multiple police cars, a police bike, and eventually a police dog. And I heard the police helicopter.

I just returned from the Publix store hoping to learn more facts, but all I could find out that the perp was apprehended behind the Clermont Hotel. I'll keep searching for more details. Also, I found out that this Publix does not have an off-duty Officer til 6 p.m.

Couldn't be happier that the only person injured was the perp!

Seems daylight is no longer a deterrent to thugs. I shop there; it could have been this 67 year-old woman. I'm so glad they caught that criminal.

The perp evidently forced open the victims car door and tried to force her to the other seat while beating her, hitting her in the head and chest. The victim fought back probably causing the injuries before he was able to use the knife. Two brave bystanders came to the aid of the victim. A man heard the screaming (as the incident was less than 50 feet from the front door) and ran over and pulled the perp out of the car. Another brave lady kept the victim away from the danger. The suspect was on federal probation for armed robbery after serving 14 years. Hope they put him away for good as he has proven he is not fit to live among civilized, law abiding people. Thanks goodness for the BRAVE, COURAGEOUS people who probably will not get the press and kudos they deserve for taking such a risk for a person they did not know.... The reward was definitely worth the risk. That turned this tragic story into an uplifting story about two GREAT individuals. Thank you for setting an example for all of us!
