A 16-year-old shot in Lithonia Tuesday morning has died, and two other teenagers were critically injured.

Residents told WSB TV the 16-year-old was left bleeding in a yard on Browns Mill Ferry Drive after the shooting around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday. The man police detained as a possible shooter lives across the street.

Two other victims are in critical condition.

When police officers arrived, they found three people in or near a car in the middle of the street.

DeKalb Police Capt. Stephen Fore told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that two other teenagers, are in critical condition. Their names have not been released.

Fore said detectives were interviewing a “person of interest,” but have not determined a motive for the shooting.

No charges have been filed and no names have been released.

Why are these kids at 16 on the streets at 3:00am? Where are the parents?

More like "parent". This area has been in a downhill slide since the mid 90's. Crime has quadrupled since friends of mine moved from Lithonia years ago.

It's difficult to know where to go to escape the "downhill" slides. Aside from leaving Atlanta altogether of course.
