The board of directors approved the proposal on Monday afternoon. About $700 million of taxpayer money would go toward the $1.16 billion project if voters in July approve a penny sales-tax earmarked for transportation projects.

The line would begin at Lindbergh and continue on to Cheshire Bridge, Sage Hill, CDC/Emory Point, Emory-Rollins, Emory-Clairmont, North Decatur, Suburban Plaza, DeKalb Medical Center and end at Avondale Estates.
