Council Redistricting: Grady Back to District Six

Wan said Grady High is moved back to district six in proposed map

The proposed maps that would redraw the city council lines in the city of Atlanta have changed yet again.

According to a letter sent by district six councilman Alex Wan, was placed back into district six “in response to concerns from Morningside and Virginia-Highland residents about city council and Atlanta school board representative district alignment.”

Council districts five and six combine to form school board election district three, which includes feeder schools to Grady. Three middle schools — including — and seven elementary schools, including , and , feed into Grady.

Wan said council is “now hearing from many Midtown residents about the same issue and the possibility of changes to the map again.”

The committee on council is likely to approve the map at the Tuesday, Jan. 17 meeting, Wan said, and there will be opportunities for public comment before the vote.
