Virginia-Highland, Morningside Residents Voice Concerns About Liquor Licensing

Community meeting aimed to discuss problems with the city’s alcohol code and licensing

Atlanta residents spoke out Thursday night about the city’s alcohol code and problems with the current process to obtain a liquor license.

The meeting at was one of several community meetings organized by a committee — the Alcohol Technical Advisory Group (ATAG) IIcharged with revamping the alcohol code and process for liquor licenses city-wide.

The committee is made up of city council members, lawyers and residents from around the city.

The group will make a recommendation to city council about changes to the licensing and laws around selling alcohol. A time frame for the recommendation is unclear and the group is prepared to meet through the end of the year.
