Wan Asks Community to Hold Judgment on Blake's Incident

Wan says he is now involved in investigation into incident at Blake's

Atlanta City Council member Alex Wan (District 6) asked the LGBT community on Monday to hold off judgment about the incident at over the weekend until an investigation is completed.

Wan, who represents Virginia-Highland, Midtown and surrounding neighborhoods, said he is now involved in the investigation into police conduct at the gay bar on Jan. 20, according to The GA Voice.

According to a preliminary police report, two men were arrested Friday night at Blake’s for assaulting an officer. One of the men threw a drink in the officer’s face and then punched him in the face, according the report.

"I really want to caution our community not to jump to quick conclusions and stir up everybody until we have all the information," he said at Monday's Atlanta Police LGBT Advisory Board meeting. "Just as we expect the police to act responsibly toward our community, we have to in turn have to act responsibly toward them as well."
