APS Redistricting: Morningside Local School Council Letter
Letter includes results of survey in the neighborhood
The following letter and information was sent to Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Erroll B. Davis, Jr. on behalf of the local school council.

Please see the attached FINAL Survey results, for your review. (I have attached the complete recommendation, with cover email below, as sent last week with the preliminary survey results.)

The survey results show that 93% of Morningside Elementary School parents are opposed to the 6th grade academy idea, as proposed March 5th.
The majority of Morningside Elementary parents are also concerned about several aspects of the Superintendent’s Proposal, including the following aspects of the proposal:

1) The timing of the proposal for implementation in August 2012 (89% concerned or very concerned)
2) separating the 6th grade from 7th and 8th grade in a split-campus (84% concerned or very concerned)
3) the distance between the 6th grade and the 7th and 8th grade campuses (97% concerned or very concerned)
4) having a split campus at Coan (97% concerned or very concerned)
5) if the split campus will have a principal on site (92% concerned or very concerned).
