APS Rezoning: Lindridge Martin Manor Rezoned

Demographers propose new elementary school

A new redistricting proposal released by Atlanta Public Schools would move students from the Lindridge Martin Manor neighborhood to a new proposed elementary school.

The recommended North Atlanta Elementary School would pull students from E. Rivers, Garden Hills and to create a new school just North of I-85.

Only a small portion of students from each school would be moved.

The boundaries would include a large portion of the Lindridge Martin Manor neighborhood, a portion of Morningside and the southern portions of Lindbergh, Peachtree Hills and Brookwood Hills.

This proposal — option A — is one of two released on Friday by demographers hired by Atlanta Public Schools. Option B does not include the proposal for a new elementary school.

The school would be built when capacity is needed in 2015 or 2016, according to the proposal.

Though the proposal failed to clearly indicate which middle and high school the school would feed into, it seems the students would attend a new proposed Mid-Town Middle School and N. Atlanta High School.

Residents will have the opportunity to discuss the proposals with demographers at a community meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at N. Atlanta High School, 2875 Northside Dr. NW.
