Druid Hills Cross Country takes two wins at Arabia

Druid Hills sweeps pair of races on Arabia Mountain course

The first cross country meet of the season at the Arabia Mountain High School course featured a sweep of the second varsity races by Druid Hills.
  swept the top seven places for a perfect 15 point score in easily outdistancing Martin Luther King Jr. 15-88 for the victory in boys’ race.

Arabia Mountain was third with 120 points and Cedar Grove was fourth with 177.
 
Daniel Samuel ran the fastest time of the day at the Arabia Mountain course with a time of 18:27.39 to take the individual honors while six more Red Devils followed in succession.
 
The Lady Red Devils also had seven runners in the top 10 finishers to compile a score 27 points to get past Cedar Grove which finished with 45 on the day. Arabia Mountain was third with 113 points.
 
Cedar Grove’s Christian Pryor won the individual race with a time of 23:55.89 and her sister Kayla was third in 25:30.64 to lead the Lady Saints.
 
Anna Dowling finished in 24:17.10 taking second overall and leading the pack of Druid Hills’ runners in the top 10.
 
Southwest DeKalb captured the first boys’ race of the day led by the one-two finish of Jacques Williams (20:02.99) and Chris Morris (20:39.80). The Panthers totaled 34 points to Redan’s 43 for the win. Tucker was second with 61 points while Stephenson came in fourth with 114 and Columbia fifth with 248.
 
Redan was led by Keith Terry in third with a time of 20:50.30 and Tucker’s Ebenezer Agaro was fourth in a time of 21:10.74.
 
Redan over came the one-two finish of Tucker’s Naima Jackson (24:12.57) and Nuba Jackson (24:12.93) for a 48-63 victory in the girls’ competition.
 
Destiny Reid’s fourth place finish in a time of 28:51.47 led the way for the Lady Raiders.
 
Southwest DeKalb only had three runners competing but all three finished in the top 10 led by Kayla Willis in third with a time of 27:45.27.
