Druid Hills Middle Collecting Food for Students

The food drive runs from Tuesday to Nov. 9.

Druid Hills Middle School is collecting food for needy students to eat during the upcoming holiday breaks. This is a good opportunity for you to help others if you've got kids at the school (or even if you don't).

Here's a note from the school describing the effort:

We will again keep the food in the school by providing baskets for students right here at DHMS.

The goal is to collect foods the kids can easily fix for breakfast or lunch during the week long Thanksgiving holiday break and hopefully have enough to distribute again before the winter holiday break. Donations of cereal, instant oatmeal, instant grits, pop tarts, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, mac n cheese, ravioli, spaghetti O's, soups, tuna or canned chicken, canned fruit, ect....... Please bring in things you would like to eat, instead of getting rid of things in the pantry that no one wants.....so please take the time to shop specifically for this. This is one of the most direct ways we can support our own community and make sure the food goes to our DHMS kids that need the help this year.

The students should take the donations to their ELT teacher or to the cafeteria. If anyone knows of families who need assistance during the breaks please contact the grade level counselor with students names. The counselors will be contacting families, as we try to respect the families privacy.
