Emory, Emory Healthcare Begin Smoking Ban

Tobacco-free initiative began Jan. 1

When students return to classes on Jan. 18, cigarette smokers will have to adjust to a new smoking ban on campus.

The new policy, which prohibits smoking on Emory University and Emory Healthcare properties, was approved last year.

Fourteen temporary areas designated for smoking will be set up around the properties “for a limited time,” according to an Emory spokesperson.
