Garden Hills Chooses Interim Principal

has chosen its interim principal after former principal Amy Wilson Alderman submitted her resignation effective June 30.

Tommy Usher will be the new principal, according to Buckhead View. Information provided by Atlanta Public Schools lists Usher's former job as principal of Sarah Smith Elementary School in Atlanta.

According to the Sarah Smith School’s website, Usher received his bachelor’s in early childhood education from Clark Atlanta University and later obtained his master’s in education in curriculum and instruction development from Central Michigan University.

While Garden Hills has secured its principal for the new school year, has not had as much luck.

Reporter Newspapers indicated on June 9 that Reginald Richardson, who is currently principal of Performing Arts and Technology High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., withdrew his application after receiving a better offer from his current employer.

Richardson was considered the top choice and had been offered the job over local candidates to replace former NAHS principal, who recently reitired to pursue selling real estate with Dist. 4 school board member Nancy Meister.
