Grady College & Career Connection Boot Camp Friday

Rising seniors invited to get a head start on college planning with short sessions on building a college list, resume writing, admissions jargon, essay writing, scholarships, financial aid and more.

On Friday, Aug. 3, Grady's College and Career Connection (CCC), is sponsoring the first-ever "Apply to College" Boot Camp for Grady's Class of 2013.  

Grady's CCC, completely run by parent volunteers, is beginning its fourth year this fall, and has helped Grady seniors achieve numerous scholarships and college acceptances.  

Rising Grady seniors are invited to get a head start on their college planning this Friday with short sessions on building a college list, resume writing, admissions jargon, essay writing, scholarships, financial aid and more.

Many local college recruiters will be there and those confirmed include the University of Georgia; Valdosta State University; Spelman College; University of West Georgia; Agnes Scott College; Savannah College of Art and Design; Berry College; and Columbus State University.

The $5 admission includes all workshops, healthy snacks, lunch and a Zumba session. See here for more info or register at gradybootcamp@gmail.com. The GHS Class of 2013 has just over 400 students.

In 2011, the CCC was recognized as a national first-runner up for the "Inspiration Award" given by the College Board. This award recognizes schools that improve their academic environments and help underserved students achieve equitable access to higher education, overcoming remarkable obstacles in the process.

Grady New Student Orientation

New Grady High School student orientation will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, August 3 in the Grady Theater at the school located at 929 Charles Allen Drive. Parents are encouraged to attend with their students to learn about Grady.

The latter part of the orientation session will be a campus tour and attendance for that portion is optional, as many students have already toured the campus previously.

Grady New Student Registration

The new school year begins in less than a week on Aug. 6. Registration began this past Monday at the school and continues through Thursday, Aug. 2. Times are as follows:

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. each day
