The Grady High School and Grady PTSA Open House will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. in the school's theater.
Join fellow parents and friends to meet the faculty and staff at this year’s first PTSA meeting in the theatre and follow your student’s class schedule immediately after the meeting. During brief informational sessions, teachers will personally answer questions about their course content, resources, expectations and homework.
Be mindful that the purpose of Open House is to give parents an overview of their student’s classes. Individual conferences should be scheduled for a later date.
Looking for a way to help our teachers and classrooms? Please consider bringing any of the items below to the PTSA Open House. You may drop your item(s) in the theater at the designated tables or take them directly to your teachers.

APS has recently formed a task force to provide input and feedback regarding the issues surrounding middle school capacity in the new Grady cluster. APS Superintendent Erroll B. Davis requested that the task force provide him with recommendations for potential long-term solutions to the cluster’s capacity issue at Inman Middle School.
The Inman Capacity Task Force has already met four times and meets every other Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Inman Media Center. These meetings are open to the public, but there is not time dedicated to public comment.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 18 and Superintendent Davis will be attending the first part of the meeting with a facilitator to clarify the goals of the Task Force.

The GHS Debate Team, which has won numerous national and state championships, is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. As the team gears up for a very busy year ahead, the school is asking for all parents of speech and debate students to attend the meeting.
At this meeting, teachers and students will highlight key features of the different types of speech and debate events and commitment requirements. They will also present information about forthcoming competitions and other related events.
The parent run booster club which supports the team will elect this year's officers, discuss booster club dues, last year's expenses and revenues and present plans for the coming year.
Parent involvement is critical for the success of the team and we hope that all parents of speech and debate students will plan to attend the meeting.
The purpose of the survey is to collect public input to inform the development of the 2013-14 and 2014-15 APS calendars. For the upcoming school years, the district plans to return to a single school calendar.
The data gathered through this survey, which will be open through October, will assist the APS Calendar Committee in designing a calendar that meets the requirements of state law, that supports student attendance and achievement, and that considers the preferences of families.

The Grady HS Robotics team is seeking a professional machine shop near Midtown to partner with the team. The teams needs a machinist that can volunteer on a short term basis to instruct a small group of focused, highly motivated students in the proper use of a drill press, band saw, milling machine, and a sheet metal machine.
The students have knowledge of basic operation and are seeking to advance their skills.
Experience working with students is preferred but no formal teaching experience is required. The training can be scheduled to accommodate to machinist's schedule in the afternoons, evenings, or on the weekend.
Separate from instruction, the team also needs a machine shop that can donate time and labor for the fabrication of parts currently beyond the capabilities of our school-based shop.
