Morningside Petition Gains Momentum

Organizers plan to resubmit petition

More than 1,000 residents have signed a petition that asks Atlanta Public Schools to keep the Morningside Elementary School neighborhood zoned for Inman Middle School and Grady High School.

Parents started circulating the petition after a study commissioned by Atlanta Public Schools suggested Morningside kids attend a new proposed Mid-town Middle School in Buckhead and N. Atlanta High School.

The new zoning options would bus kids about 10 miles across town for high school. Many kids who live in the Morningside Lenox Park neighborhood can currently walk to elementary, middle or high school, depending on which part of the neighborhood they live in.
