Video: Morningside Teacher Wins National Award

third-grade teacher Rachel Willis was honored as one of 53 recipients of the Milken Educator Award on April 9.

Willis, a native Atlantan, has worked at Morningside for four years.

The Milken Educator Award, a $25,000 prize presented by the Milken Family Foundation, is awarded to teachers who "are furthering excellence in education." Teachers are selected based on exemplary teaching methods, accomplishments and ability to motivate and impact students and the community.

Since 1987, more than 2,500 teachers have received the award, which was called the "Oscars of Teaching" by Teacher Magazine.

The Milken Family Foundation is a private foundation founded in 1982 that supports education and medical research.
