Men Win Eight Straight to Start Season

The men’s basketball team is off to an 8-0 start.

This is the first time in Emory history a men's basketball team started the season 8-0.

The team won the first five on the road, which included wins over LaGrange (107-89) and Maryville (75-61) at the Maryville College Thanksgiving Classic.

The Eagles returned home Nov. 30 and won two straight at the , and finished up the week with a close win at Oglethorpe 60-54.

Sophomore forward Jake Davis is the leading scorer for the Eagles after eight games, averaging 20.9 points per game.

Senior guard Austin Claunch is averaging 16.8 points per game, and senior guard Alex Gulotta is averaging just over 11 points per game.

Junior forward Michael Friedberg leads the team in rebounds with 53.

The Emory Eagles are ranked ninth on the d3hoops.com men’s Top 25 list.

The Eagles (8-0) look to continue the win-streak against Rhodes on Dec. 29 at 7p.m. at WEPC.

Women Start Season Strong

The Emory University women’s basketball team is off to a strong start this season.

Despite a heartbreaking loss (80-79) against Oglethorpe to start the season, the ladies recovered and went on to win five straight games.

The team came out strong in November with wins against Covenant (87-43) and Sewanee (98-70) to improve their record to 4-1 through November.

The Lady Eagles fell to Piedmont 81-72 on Dec. 4, but look home a strong win against Agnes Scott on Dec. 6.

Sophomore guard Hannah Lilly is the leading scorer for the Eagles, averaging 17.1 per game.

Junior forward Misha Jackson, a St. Pius X graduate, is averaging 15.4 per game and leads the team in rebounds with 59 on the season.

The lady Eagles (6-2) look to continue the momentum at Huntingdon on Dec. 28.
