Third Annual Battle of the Burgers

There’s something for everyone, even those who eat burgers while running, at Embraced’s third annual “Battle of the Burgers” event on September 8, 2012.

The event will take place at John Howell Park in Virginia-Highland. There will be a not so typical 5K race at 9 a.m., during which runners eat a burger before crossing the finish line. If you’re still hungry, or if waking up early isn’t your thing, you can join the afternoon festivities from 12-5 p.m. as some of the best among Atlanta’s restaurant scene face off for the title of “Best Burger.”

Admission to the afternoon event doesn’t stop at gorging on Atlanta’s finest burgers, it is complete with plentiful beer, live music, and fun for the kids.  Five bands are scheduled to take the stage over the course of the afternoon and kids will have their choice between obstacle courses and inflatable bouncy houses, among other activities.

“This event is a fun opportunity for Embraced to gain support in the community,” said Lauren Obrien, founder of Embraced. “We hope to surpass last year’s proceeds to enable us to expand our mission to help those in need.”

For every ticket sold, Embraced is able to give mobility equipment to five individuals in need. Tickets for the event range from $25 to $85 based on entry in the 5K and purchase of all-you-can-eat burgers accompanied by all-you-can-drink beer. You can purchase tickets online at Battleoftheburgers.com or at the event.
