Jazz on the Lawn Comes Back to Callanwolde

Callanwolde Fine Arts Center is gearing up for a big summer, including the 13th year of their Jazz on the Lawn music series.

Get your blankets and picnic baskets ready and head over to the for their popular Jazz on the Lawn series, which starts on June 15 with a performance by Serenata.

Serenata is an Atlanta-based seven-piece group led by Luis Cordero that performs samba, salsa, Latin jazz and other genres. Their concert will start at 7:30 p.m. out on the lawn, but if it rains, the concert moves indoor to the Indoor Courtyard. Buy tickets online for $15 by clicking here. Tickets can also be purchased at the door--$20 general, seniors and Callanwolde members $15.

  • June 29: Joe Gransden and Maria Howell. Gransden's voice has been compared to Ol' Blue Eyes himself, while Howell's singing talent was featured in the movie The Color Purple. (Buy tickets here.)
  • July 13: Bernard Linnette Interactive. Vinnie Knight provides vocals in front of a sextet of brass horns and Linnette on the drums for avant-garde jazz sounds. (Buy tickets here.)
  • July 27: Faith. This five-piece band, which describes its sound as soul-jazz-folk, is led by singer-songwriter Faith Carmichael. (Buy tickets here.)
  • August 10: Scott Glazer's Mojo Dojo. Glazer plays bass and is the featured vocalist for this group of musicians whose repertoire ranges from Allman Brothers covers to classic American hits. (Buy tickets here.)

Concertgoers may bring food and drink to the concerts, since no food is sold on-site.
