Monday Essentials: SCLC Exhibit at Emory

As we head into Memorial Day, there's plenty to do this week in and around Virginia Highland and Druid Hills.

Here are five things to know about the coming week in and around Virginia Highland and Druid Hills. For a full list of things to do, check the Patch calendar of events.

1. Exhibit of SCLC materials at Emory. This exhibition runs through Dec. 1 at the Robert W. Woodruff Library and highlights the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's efforts to achieve positive social change after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Free and open to the public.

2. Storytime on Wednesdays. Bring your toddlers to the library at 980 Ponce de Leon Ave. at 10 a.m., preschoolers at 10:45 a.m. Both free.

3. Decatur Arts Festival. This art festivals is a good way to kick off Memorial Day weekend. Free.

Learn these life-saving skills at 1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Martha Brown United Methodist Church at 468 Moreland Ave. SE. $50.

5. MAMA Art Collective. This group of crafty women with young kids has found a place to "create, explore DIY design and craft and kickstart creative businesses." They meet at 9:30 a.m. Mondays at Martha Brown United Methodist Church at 468 Moreland Ave. SE. Prices start at $25 per month plus one childcare shift.
