Tuesday Essentials: Summerfest 2013 This Weekend

Other things happening this week in Virginia Highland and Druid Hills: Rock Fest at Fernbank, a jumble sale at the Church of the Epiphany, storytime at the library and the Walter Bruno Memorial Ride.

1. Virginia Highland Summerfest 2013. One of the biggest and best community festivals in Atlanta starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday in John Howell Park at 801 Virginia Ave. NE. Check the festival website for details.

2. Georgia Rock Fest. The Fernbank Science says, "This event celebrates Georgia’s rocks, minerals, fossils, and geologic wonders. Rock Fest coincides with the release ofRoadside Geology of Georgia, the first book on Georgia’s geology written for a general audience by geologists." 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Fernbank Science Center at 156 Heaton Park Drive NE. Free.

3. Jumble sale. You'll find a little bit of everything on sale at the Church of the Epiphany at 2089 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE. Starts at 9 a.m. Saturday. Free admission.

4. Warren Bruno Summerfest Celebration Ride. Honor one of the Summerfest founders with this memorial bike ride. It starts at 8 a.m. Sunday at Atkins Park Tavern at 794 N. Highland Ave. NE. $10.

5. Storytime. Bring your toddlers to the library at 980 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE at 10 a.m. Wednesday and your preschoolers at 10:45 a.m. Free.
