City of Atlanta Councilmember Lamar Willis hold a session on June 4 at 6:15 p.m. DeKalb County CEO Ellis and Decatur Mayor Floyd will hold a session on June 13 at 7:30 p.m. Citizens can access the session by calling 404-463-3227 or by visiting www.wiresidechats.com. Paolo's Gelato was voted the best place for a frozen treat by Patch readers this week. The Paolo's location on Virginia Avenue in the heart of Virginia-Highland opened in 1999. A second location later opened in South Carolina. The shop features a variety of Gelato flavors and desserts. Paolo's beat out Yoforia and Yogli-Mogli to win the crown. Three women’s boutiques also among latest round of confirmed retailers for new development
West Egg owners are taking on a new adventure. The team behind the popular Westside eatery will open The General Muir, a Jewish-style deli, at Emory Point on Clifton Road. The Jewish deli will serve traditional deli classics, from pastrami and corned beef to chopped liver, smoked fish, and hand-rolled kettle-boiled bagels. The menu will also include innovative takes on traditional deli and Jewish dishes. The restaurant will have a bar, coffee shop and pastry counter. It will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. How do you think the city should address issues with PARKAtlanta?
As was reported by numerous news outlets and much to the dismay of countless residents and visitors, the City of Atlanta is considering extending parking enforcement hours at meters around the city. Some of these would include 24-hour zones. At a recent meeting with the Poncey-Highland Neighborhood Association, City Councilmember Kwanza Hall said he “thinks that makes no sense.” Extending parking hours would be done in an effort to recoup approximately $4 million that the City will not receive as a result of an arbitrator’s ruling that PARKatlanta does not need to pay the City almost three-quarters of what it originally was contracted to pay. This came about after the City Council last year restricted the Milwaukee-based company’s …

The Briar Vista Elementary School PTA is hosting the annual Spring Fling this Saturday, May 19. The event will feature a one-mile fun run for the kids, carnival with games and attractions and a silent auction with great stuff from local businesses. All residents are invited to participate.
