Casual Gourmet Burger Restaurant Opens at Emory Point

BurgerFi prides itself on serving hormone-free, grass-fed beef burgers that have never been frozen in a setting that's environmentally friendly.

The casual gourmet burger chain BurgerFi opened for business Tuesday at the Emory Point development on Clifton Road. Joe Tuma, the owner of the franchise, said that lunch business was strong on the first day and operations were smooth. BurgerFi specializes in gourmet burgers that are made to order.  Tuma said the grass-fed Angus beef is never frozen and none of the meals are pre-made. Unlike fast-food chains, he said, BurgerFi's 's goal is to have an order served 7-9 minutes after the customer's order is placed. 'It's going very well," Tuma said after Tuesday's lunch rush. "The average ticket time was around 7 minutes." BurgerFi pledges that its stores have a "low carbon footprint," including furniture made from recycled milk cartons and …

Tin Lizzy's Opens at Emory Point

Another eatery opens, and developers are looking to start construction on Phase II this summer.

Tin Lizzy's Cantina opened for an eager lunch crowd at the Emory Point development on Friday. Dave Schrader, who has overseen construction and the opening, said the restaurant, which seats 180, had to put people on a waiting list for its first lunch service. "We had an amazing lunch," he said. "Very smooth." The Mexican restaurant and sports bar is the latest eatery to open in the mixed-use development on Clifton Road, across from the Centers for Disease Control and just down the street from Emory University. Schrader said he's not worried about competition from the other eateries in the residential-retail development. "Not with the CDC and potential growth in the area ... Emory Hospital, Emory University..." Two more restaurants are …

More Emory Point Businesses set Target Opening Dates

Looking forward to the next round of new eateries at the development on Clifton Road? Here's an update.

Tin Lizzy's Cantina, the Mexican restaurant and sports bar, is hiring for its new Emory Point location and is close to opening day. Gables Residential, one of the developers of the mixed-use development on Clifton Road, says that Tin Lizzy’s has a target opening date of Friday, March 22. Of course, as with any construction project, that could be adjusted if last-minute issues come up. [Editor's note: A previous version of this article said the restauant was shooting for a March 15 opening.] The opening date for BurgerFi, a chain that specializes in gourmet burgers made from grass-fed beef, will be around April 10. BurgerFi also pledges that its stores have a "low carbon footprint" and environmentally friendly practices. And Paradise …

Electric Car Charging Stations Coming to Emory Point

The mixed-use development joins a growing list of places in Atlanta that are installing charging stations.

The Emory Point development is the latest place to offer a cutting-edge amenity for shoppers and diners - car charging stations. Here's a post from the Emory Point Facebook Page: We are in the process of installing four (4) EV charging stations at Emory Point. Two (2) stations on level 1 of the retail portion of the deck and two (2) stations on level 4 of the residential portion of the deck. These should be installed and operation within the next 2-3 weeks. Emory Point is a mixed-use development on Clifton Road, across from the entrance to the Centers for Disease Control. The special parking spaces equipped with electrical outlets are popping up all over metro Atlanta. CBS Atlanta reported last month that Manuel's Tavern has installed …

More Than a Deli, The General Muir Pays Homage to Food, Family and Fulfillment

The owners of the West Egg recently opened their deli, The General Muir, in Emory Point.

When they opened The General Muir several weeks ago at Emory Point, Jennifer and Ben Johnson wanted to pay tribute to the delicatessen tradition. The restaurant's menu features the staples of the quintessential New York deli: freshly made-by-hand bagels, lox, deviled eggs, corned beef reuben on rye, latkes, and of course, Dr. Brown's sodas, among other palate pleasers. It even will offer a special Passover Seder dinner March 25 and 26. (See attached PDF.) To be sure, it's decidedly a different departure from the Johnsons' other eatery, the West Egg Café on the city's west side. But Jennifer Johnson, who, along with her husband, co-owns The General Muir with Shelley Sweet and Chef Todd Ginsberg, didn't just want to open a deli. The …
