Eagles continue to dominate conference play
The Emory University Eagles are moving up the ranks of Division III basketball. The Eagles are ranked No. 4 in the Top 25 poll this week, up four spots from last week. “It’s awesome to get recognized and it’s great to be where we are, but you gotta take it game by game,” Senior Austin Claunch told Fox 5 Atlanta. “Because especially in conference, every team can beat you.” Emory started the season 12-0 and suffered their first loss of the season on the road against NYU on Jan. 13. Since the loss, the Eagles have dominated against conference rivals Brandeis, Carnegie Melon and Case Western Reserve. Emory Eagles sports roundup
The Emory University men’s basketball team remains undefeated about halfway through the regular season. The Eagles are 12-0, which is the best start in school history. Last weekend, Emory pulled out a huge win 83-81 against conference rival Rochester to open up University Athletic Conference play. Senior guard Austin Claunch, who was named UAA Basketball Co-Player Of The Week, scored 27 points on Saturday against Rochester (9-3). Sophomore forward Jake Davis had 20 points and 11 rebounds and senior guard Alex Gulotta hit three baskets from the three-point line. The Eagles travel to New York University on January 13 and Brandies University on January 15 to continue conference play. The Emory lady Eagles fell to Rochester 76-64 on Saturday. …

Eagles basketball update
The Emory University men’s basketball team is off to an 8-0 start. This is the first time in Emory history a men's basketball team started the season 8-0. The team won the first five on the road, which included wins over LaGrange (107-89) and Maryville (75-61) at the Maryville College Thanksgiving Classic. The Eagles returned home Nov. 30 and won two straight at the Woodruff PE Center, and finished up the week with a close win at Oglethorpe 60-54. Sophomore forward Jake Davis is the leading scorer for the Eagles after eight games, averaging 20.9 points per game. Senior guard Austin Claunch is averaging 16.8 points per game, and senior guard Alex Gulotta is averaging just over 11 points per game. Junior forward Michael Friedberg leads the …
