Grady High PTSA Open House on Tuesday

A roundup of Midtown school news including a scheduled appearance by APS Superintendent Erroll B. Davis at Tuesday's Inman Capacity Task Force meeting.

The Grady High School and Grady PTSA Open House will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. in the school's theater. Join fellow parents and friends to meet the faculty and staff at this year’s first PTSA meeting in the theatre and follow your student’s class schedule immediately after the meeting. During brief informational sessions, teachers will personally answer questions about their course content, resources, expectations and homework.   Be mindful that the purpose of Open House is to give parents an overview of their student’s classes. Inman Middle Parents: APS Redistricting Maps Fail to Address Overcrowding

Inman Middle School parents concerned about overcrowding

Parents across metro Atlanta fail to agree on many issues in the school redistricting debate. Residents continue to fight to keep neighborhood schools open, advocate for quality education for all students and for the ability for kids to walk to school safely, among a long list of other issues. But Monday afternoon, parents from the Inman Middle School zone agreed on a major concern in the neighborhood: the redistricting proposals fail to address overcrowding at Inman. “Just about every plan shows a large group of students coming through Inman Middle School way beyond our capacity,” Inman local school council chair Mike Szalkowski said. I think APS needs to take a hard look at where the poplulation is growing and find capapcity to handle the neighborhoods that are booming with young children. The whole Grady Cluster is a popular place to live and parents are deciding to stay rather than go to the suburbs when their children reach school age.
