Italian restaurant is hosting a wine tasting event coinciding with a meet-and-greet with District 2 City Councilman Kwanza Hall on Wednesday evening.
Residents will have the opportunity to meet Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall on Wednesday night at Midtown's La Tagliatella. Come chat with the Distrct 2 councilman about your interests and concerns from 6 – 7:30 p.m. The meet-and-greet with Councilman Hall will also coincide with a wine tasting event at the restaurant that offers Italian cuisine. Todd Robinson will seek the District 2 council seat, which represents Poncey-Highlands.
Another candidate has joined the race for the Atlanta City Council District 2 seat now held by Kwanza Hall. Todd Robinson, a 32-year-old attorney, announced he's running on his candidate website. Jon Jones also says he's running for the District 2 seat. Some of the neighborhoods in District 2 include Inman Park, Poncey-Highlands, the Old Fourth Ward and Midtown. Redrawn district lines will go into effect in 2014. Robinson lives in Midtown. His website says he grew up in Athens, attended the University of Georgia and worked as a child abuse investigator with the Georgia Department of Human Services. After complaints by Atlanta residents and visitors, the ordinance could end up banning "booting" altogether in Atlanta.
Atlanta officials are in the process of creating an ordinance to strengthen the city's regulation of vehicle booting companies, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. The ordinance is being pushed by Councilman Kwanza Hall and would require parking lot operators to provide payment receipts, as well their contact information. Hall represents District 2, which includes Poncey-Highland, Inman Park and Old Fourth Ward. The legislation, which is still being drafted, could change in the next few weeks as the city's attorneys continue to work on the the issue. How do you think the city should address issues with PARKAtlanta?
As was reported by numerous news outlets and much to the dismay of countless residents and visitors, the City of Atlanta is considering extending parking enforcement hours at meters around the city. Some of these would include 24-hour zones. At a recent meeting with the Poncey-Highland Neighborhood Association, City Councilmember Kwanza Hall said he “thinks that makes no sense.” Extending parking hours would be done in an effort to recoup approximately $4 million that the City will not receive as a result of an arbitrator’s ruling that PARKatlanta does not need to pay the City almost three-quarters of what it originally was contracted to pay. After years of pumping out information via 140 characters or less on Twitter, the staff of the Atlanta District 2 City Council office has a bit more elbow room to promote district happenings with the recent launching of the District 2 facebook page. Councilman Kwanza Hall represents District 2, which includes a dozen neighborhoods in the heart of the city including Downtown, Georgia State University, Castleberry Hill, the Marietta Artery, Home Park, Georgia Tech, Atlantic Station, Midtown, Sweet Auburn, the Old Fourth Ward, Poncey-Highland, and Inman Park. Precisely. I live 2.9 miles from my job in Midtown, and it is quicker to walk the 45 minutes (impossible because of what I have to carry) than to take public transportation. So what he have is an urban area that is severely under-served by busses and trains. I want to not drive- I've had 2 near-death bicycle accidents trying to avoid driving to another job downtown.
