Fidelity to move into vacated Midtown bank

Bank plans to open a new branch at the 3,700 square-foot building located at the corner of Monroe and Ponce de Leon sometime in 2013.

The long-vacant bank space at the corner of Monroe Drive and Ponce de Leon Avenue will be back in the banking business in 2013. An applicant representing Fidelty Bank filed a Special Administrative Permit (SAP) with the City of Atlanta on Thursday, and the bank plans to open a new branch at the 3,700 square-foot building sometime this year. The building, located at 494 Ponce de Leon, was originally constructed in 1976 and sits on a 0.96-acre property that fronts both Monroe and Ponce. The property is zoned C-2 within the Atlanta BeltLine Overlay District. The building was the former home of SouthTrust Bank.
