Man Shoots Convenience Store Clerk

The shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. Monday at the Exxon convenience store at Ponce and Moreland.

Atlanta police are looking for a man who shot a clerk late Monday night at the Exxon convenience store at Ponce de Leon and Moreland avenues.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said Jack Alieu, 46, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Surveillance video showed Alieu being shot by one of two men who entered the store. The man, wearing a baseball cap and white T-shirt, approached the counter and pulled a pistol from his waistband.

Atlanta police spokesperson Kim Jones told the AJC,

“One of the males pointed a gun at the store clerk, but when Mr. Alieu started to back up, he was shot once to the side. The shooter appeared uneasy handling the gun, and both males fled the scene before taking anything.”

She said the men were seen running south on Moreland Avenue, “but possibly had a vehicle waiting for them in the parking lot just south of the Exxon.”
